Traffic Accident Sends 1 to Hospital Monday Morning

Posted in:

A single-car collision in Hughes County sent one person to the hospital Monday morning and left a Seminole resident unharmed, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

Kolby Raney, age 26, from Okemah, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound on State Highway 9 near Wetumka in Hughes County, when they ran off the roadway at approximately 5:54 a.m. Monday. The vehicle failed to make a left turn for an unknown reason, departing the roadway to the right, striking a tinhorn and rolling the vehicle one time while deploying multiple air bags. Raney was transported to Henryetta Hillcrest Hospital by Hughes County EMS before being transferred to St. Francis in Tulsa via Air Evac.

Tyler Killinsgworth, age 28, from Seminole, was a passenger in the vehicle but did not sustain any injuries.

The condition of the driver and official cause of the collision are under investigation. Seat belts were equipped in the vehicle but were not in use at the time of the accident. The weather was clear, and the roadway was dry when the collision occurred.

OHP Trooper Allen Monroe #356, of the Pittsburg County detachment of Troop D, investigated the accident. Hughes County EMS and the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
