SUV Stolen From OKC Recovered in Seminole
A Chevy Tahoe stolen out of Oklahoma City was recovered in Seminole and the man who allegedly had it in his possession was nabbed by police after a brief foot chase.
Jerry Thomas Brock, 47, of Seminole, was arrested earlier this month and faces a felony charge of possession of a stolen vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer. The charges were filed on March 10 in Seminole County District Court.
On March 4, Officer Billy Joe Messner of the Seminole Police Department ran a tag number which matched a vehicle that had been stolen out of Oklahoma City.
According to an affidavit, police located the vehicle at 813 Coolidge and set up surveillance on the house. Just before 1 p.m., Messner saw a man identified as Brock leave the residence in a blue Chevy Tahoe.
Messner said he began following the SUV and when he got behind it on Walnut Street, Brock bailed out and took off on foot. According to the affidavit, Brock went west between two houses and when he saw Det. Chris Ayers, he turned around and ran back east.
A resident told police that a man had run behind a brick house and never left, and officers set up a perimeter from Coolidge to Timmons and Walnut to Strother.
According to the affidavit, Ayers saw Brock lying down in some brush behind a brick house and notified Officer Steffan Jasna, who arrived and placed Brock in handcuffs.
Brock was placed under arrest at the scene and a wrecker service took possession of the Tahoe, which was reported as stolen on March 3.
Court records indicate Brock has a lengthy rap sheet dating back to 1998. His past charges include knowingly concealing stolen property, home repair fraud, second-degree burglary, motor vehicle violations and protective order violations.
