Strother Fire Dept. Hosting Donkey Basketball Saturday
The Strother Fire Department will be hosting an entertaining, family friendly evening of Donkey Basketball this Saturday, April 1. This event will be held at the Strother High School Gym, located at 36085 EW 1140 Rd. The thrills, spills, and laughs will begin at 7:00. p.m.
For those who have never seen a donkey basketball game, this will be your opportunity to discover one of the most exciting and hilarious sports to be imagined. The game is played much like basketball, in that two teams try to score points by putting a basketball through the hoop, but this will be unlike any game you’ve seen before. The donkeys may be trained, but they are seldom cooperative, and they have their own ideas on how to entertain a crowd. The players may be skilled, but points are more a matter of luck.
The first game will be between teams fielded by Bennett Land and Cattle Company and Bareback Jack’s. The second game will be between the CVEC and Strother Fire Department teams. The evening will conclude with a championship game between the two winning teams.
There will also be a concession stand featuring delicious pulled pork bar-bque.
Advance tickets for this event can be purchased for $7 from and Strother Fireman or Board member. Tickets will also be available at the door for only $10. All proceeds from this event will go to supporting the Strother Fire Department.
