State Chamber Applauds Workforce Commission

Posted in:

The State Chamber of Oklahoma is applauding the proposal of a bill to create the Oklahoma Workforce Commission. Senator Adam Pugh (SB 41) of Edmond has introduced SB 621 to give the commission the power to coordinate and develop Oklahoma’s workforce systems to incentivize outcomes.

“Finding good people for your business has always been important, but in a post-COVID economy, it’s the number one issue of businesses I’ve talked to, whether they be in Edmond or other parts of Oklahoma,” Pugh said.

Earlier, Governor Kevin Stitt created the Workforce Transformation Task Force to help consolidate state agency functions to oversee workforce development. The State Chamber is praising these efforts. “I applaud the efforts and leadership of our state’s leaders and their laser focus to help Oklahoma improve our workforce delivery system. said Chamber President and CEO Chad Warmington, who will co-chair the governor’s task force with Secretary of Commerce Chad Mariska.
