The Seminole State College Board of Regents met Dec. 17 to approve a number of degree program modifications and to name Courtney Jones the permanent Vice President for Fiscal Affairs.

The meeting opened with a review of the College’s recent expenditures. Then SSC President Lana Reynolds presented her President’s Report, which included an update on the College’s COVID19 response, personnel changes, information about campus activities and an update on spring semester enrollment numbers.

The first action approved by the Board was the permanent hiring of Courtney Jones as the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. Jones had served as the Interim Vice President for Fiscal Affairs since early April. President Reynolds applauded her leadership and stewardship amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Courtney stepped in at a very difficult time. She handled all the related issues regarding purchasing and general business operations. Additionally, she maintained oversight of our Human Resources office, which faced many unusual challenges with leave for employee isolations and quarantines,” President Reynolds said.

Jones has been an employee of the College for 12 years. Prior to taking on the role of Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, she served as the Human Resources Director. She received her Master’s Degree of Science in Human Resources Administration at East Central University and her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Cameron University.

“Courtney has demonstrated the ability to research, reason and decisively act with compassion and in the best interest of our employees, students and the institution,” President Reynolds said.

Under the consent agenda, the Board approved several routine items related to degree program modifications. The approved changes will be submitted to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Board members present at the meeting were: Curtis Morgan, Marci Donaho, Ryan Franklin, Kim Hyden and Ryan Pitts. The next SSC Board of Regents meeting is set for Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.
