Splashpad Will Undergo Makeover Before Memorial Day Weekend
The Seminole Splashpad is about to get a muchneeded makeover, and if all goes according to plan, the project will be complete by Memorial Day weekend.
Acting as the Seminole Utilities Authority, the city council Tuesday approved a $68,500 bid from Aquatic Warriors, LLC of Arlington, Texas for repairs and upgrades to the water park.
The proposal was met with unanimous approval with no discussion or questions from council members.
“The goal of this project is to bring a water park with potential back to life. The citizens of Seminole deserve an attractive environment to bring their kids to cool down on a hot Oklahoma day,” the company stated in its proposal to the city.
The scope of work includes upsizing and upgrading material used to construct the water holding tank, upgrading the size of the filtration system, fixing the features protruding from the ground, repainting the entire fenced-in area and other upgrades.
According to the proposal, work will get underway on March 1 and will be completed by May 14, which will allow operators a two-week “familiarization” period with the new system before opening Memorial Day weekend.
Also approved on Tuesday was a $24,299 bid from Seminole Ford for the purchase of a new F-150 truck for use by the Animal Control Department. According to the meeting agenda, the purchase will be partially funded by a private donation in the amount of $9,000. Monies in the Animal Control special bequest fund will cover the balance.
