Jonas Burgess served in the United States Army from 1943-1945. He undertook his training in North Carolina at Camp Butner 78th Division. During his tour of duty, he spent time in Normandy and earned a Bronze Star and five Campaign Ribbons. Burgess now serves as a deacon in the Seminole Baptist Church in Konawa. He has served in this capacity since 1967. His family, as well as thousands of Americans are very proud and thankful for his service.
