Seminole firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1527 Foster Avenue early Saturday morning, Aug. 28. Seminole Fire Department Chief Fielding Lucas stated the fire was reported by a passing citizen at approximately 6:00 a.m.

“The single-story vacant house was approximately 75 percent involved by the time firefighters arrived, so we took defensive action, ” Lucas said.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire and prevented the blaze from spreading. A neighboring home sustained some melted siding from the heat, but no major damage.

According to the seminole-oklahoma.net website, the Seminole fire department is made up of an EMS supervisor, 3 captains, 3 sergeants, 3 Lieutenants, 3 drivers, and 6 firefighters. The department is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit through the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
