September Proclaimed Nat’l Recovery Month By Mayor of Seminole

Posted in:

The month of September has been proclaimed as National Recovery Month in the City of Seminole.

The mayoral proclamation was made by Ward One City Councilman and Vice Mayor Larry Church on behalf of Mayor Jeff Griffin at Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Seminole City Council.

Claudia Willis and Lisa Cobb of Gateway to Recovery were on hand at the council meeting as the proclamation was made and thanked the council for their support.

According to the proclamation, mental health and substance use disorders affect all communities nationwide and with commitment and support, those impacted can embark on a journey of improved health and overall wellness. The focus of National Recovery Month is to celebrate all people that make the journey of recovery possible by embracing the 2021 theme, “Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community.” Recovery Month spreads the message that people can and do recover every day.

In conjunction with National Recovery month, Gateway will hold its first ever “Walk for Recover” at 8 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Magnolia Walking Park, located next to the Reynolds Wellness Center in Seminole. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. the day of the event. There is no charge to participate.
