Sen. Lankford to Speak at Special Wednesday Forum at Haney Ctr.
U.S. Senator James Lankford will be the in-person special guest speaker at the Seminole Chamber of Commerce April Forum this Wednesday, April 7.
The monthly gathering of civic club members and community guests is usually held on the second Thursday of the month, but is being moved up one day to accommodate the Senator’s schedule.
The luncheon program will be held in Utterback Ballroom of the Haney Center on the campus of Seminole State College at noon. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety protocols, attendance will be limited. Anyone interested in attending must contact the Chamber office at 405-382-3640 to reserve a seat.
Senator Lankford served four years in the U.S. House of Representatives for central Oklahoma until he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014. Before his service in Congress, James served students and families for more than 20 years in ministry, including 15 years as the Director of Student Ministry for the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma and Director of the Falls Creek Youth Camp. Falls Creek is the largest youth camp in the United States, with more than 51,000 individuals attending each summer.
He serves as chairman of the Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management Subcommittee, which covers federal spending, regulatory reform, and the federal workforce. Lankford says his goal in leading the subcommittee is to create a more fiscally responsible and transparent federal government, and ensure the United States remains the world leader.
Lankford also serves on the Senate Committee on Finance, Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
Lankford was recognized as the Senate’s top-ranked “Taxpayers Friend” by the National Taxpayers Union for his record of supporting lower taxes, limited government, and economic freedom. His annual Federal Fumbles report provides commonsense solutions to the problems our federal government faces. He has also been recognized by many other organizations for his work toward increased personal freedom, economic growth, and religious liberty.
The Senator lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Cindy. They have been married more than 27 years and have two daughters, Hannah and Jordan. He enjoys spending time with his family, working in his yard, and reading.
Senator Lankford will be introduced by Seminole Chamber Forum Committee member Melvin Moran.
