Seminole Tax Disbursements up For Month And Year

The February press release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole, which has a 0.04 percent sales tax, saw an increase in tax revenue for the month of February compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also higher compared to February last year. Use Tax was up for the month but down for the year.

The latest OTC release explains the February 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from December 16th to 31st and estimated sales from January 1st to the 15th.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE received a $630,790.64 Sales Tax disbursement. This was $27,970.50 (4.64%) more than the $602,820.14 returned last month. The return was $38,722.49 (6.54%) more than the $592,068.15 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s February Use Tax return of $77,015.32 was $7,071 (10.11%) more than last month’s $69,943.76 return. It was $12,607.09 (-14.07%) less than last year’s $89,622.41 Use Tax return.

This report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $318,098.95 tax disbursement for February. This was $13,964.36 (4.59%) more than the $304,134.59returnedlast month. It was $12,190.94 (3.99%) more than the $305,908.01 returned last year.

The Seminole County Use Tax return of $65,331.59 was $7,632.63 (13.23%) more than last month’s disbursement of $57,698.96. It was $7,705.50 (13.37%) more than the $57,626.09 returned last year.

The January sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $86,173.67 was $9,007.06 (11.67%) more than last month’s return of $77,166.61. This disbursement was $2,721.66 (-3.06%) less than last year’s return of $88,895.33. Wewoka has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Wewoka Use Tax return was $19,429.56. This was $553.53 (-2.77%) less than the January return of $19,983.09. It was $417.75 (2.10%) more than last year’s $19,847.31 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $44,691.64 February Sales Tax disbursement. This was $8,115.91 (22.19%) more than the $36,575.73 returned last month, and $7,393.48 (19.82%) more than the $37,298.16 return in February last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for January was $13,801.16. This was $4,766.39 (-25.67%) less than last month’s $18,567.55 disbursement and $3,095.87(28.92%) more than the $10,705.29 return last year.

The CITY OF MAUD receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $9,652.34 return for February. This was $1,547.57 (-13.82%) less than last month’s $11,199.91 return. It was $206.05 (-2.09%) less than last year’s $9,858.39 return. Maud has a 0.04 percent sales tax. (Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $8,912.15).

Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,453.43. This was $354.36 (32.24%) more than the $1,099.07 January return and $146.23 (11.19%) more than last year’s $1,307.20 return. (Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,446.27).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,076.97 sales tax disbursement for February. This was $278.92 (7.34%) more than the $3,798.05 January return but $1,114.54 (-21.47%) less than last year’s return of $5,191.51. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,545.54 disbursement for February. This was $82.98 (-3.16%) less than last month’s $2,628.52 disbursement. It was $425.90 (-14.33%) less than last year’s $2,971.44 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.

The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $4,681.92 disbursement for February. This was $200.29 (74.59%) more than the $2,681.63 January disbursement and $2,271.52 (94.24%) more than the $2,410.40 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.

The February OTC release shows a statewide disbursement of $203,126,030 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $6,350,912 from the $196,775,118 distributed to the cities and towns in February last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $42,156,270.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,026,883 sales tax disbursement and a $7,214,750 use tax disbursement.
