Seminole Tax Disbursements Down For Month And Year

The March press release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole, which has a 0.04 percent sales tax, saw a drop in tax revenue for the month of March compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also lower compared to March last year. Use Tax was up for the month but down for the year.

The latest OTC release explains the March 9, 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from January business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from January 16th to 31st and estimated sales from February 1st to the 15th.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE received a $527,052.14 Sales Tax disbursement. This was $103,738.5 (16.45%) less than the $630,790.64 returned last month. The return was $29,872.28 (5.35%) less than the $556,872.42 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s March Use Tax return of $44,651.24 was $32.364.32 (42.02%) less than last month’s $77,015.32 return. It was $29,896.54 (40.10%) less than last year’s $74,547.78 Use Tax return.

This report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $288,623.52 tax disbursement for March. This was $29,475.43 (9.27%) less than the $318,098.95 returned last month. It was $16,438.17(6.04%) more than the $272,185.35 returned last year.

The Seminole County Use Tax return of $26,989.64 was $38,341.95 (58.69%) less than last month’s disburse(See ment of $65,331.59. It was $15,068.73 (35.83%) less than the $42,059.37 returned last year.

The March sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $87,077.83 was $904.16 (1.05%) more than last month’s return of $86,173.67. This disbursement was $15,791.66 (22.15%) more than last year’s return of $71,286.17. Wewoka has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Wewoka Use Tax return was $10,781.90. This was $8,647.66 (44.51%) less than the February return of $19,429.56. It was $1,109.63 (9.33%) less than last year’s $11,891.53 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $31,090.11 March Sales Tax disbursement. This was $13,601.53 (30.43%) less than the $44,691.64 returned last month, and $4,687.86 (13.10%) less than the $35,777.97 return in March last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for March was $4,800.32. This was $9,000.84 (65.22%) less than last month’s $13,801.16 disbursement and $1,459.84 (23.32%) less than the $6,260.16 return last year.

The CITY OF MAUD receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $11,866.43 return for March. This was $2,214 (22.94%) more than last month’s $9,652.34 return. It was $385.08 (3.16%) less than last year’s $12,253.51 return. Maud has a 0.04 percent sales tax. (Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $11,274.47).

Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $722.27. This was $731.16 (50.31%) less than the $1,453.43 February return. It was $43.40 (6.39%) more than last year’s $678.87 return. (Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $2,188.49).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,459.89 sales tax disbursement for March. This was $382.92 (9.39%) more than the $4,076.97 February return but $1,672(21.47%) less than last year’s return of $6,131.92. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,791.86 disbursement for March. This was $246.32 (9.68%) more than last month’s $2,545.54 disbursement. It was $864.21 (23.64%) less than last year’s $3,656.07 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.

The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $4,409.26 disbursement for March. This was $272.66 (5.82%) less than the $4,681.92 February disbursement and $799.76 (22.16%) more than the $3,609.50 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.

The March OTC release shows the statewide disbursement of $179,233,891 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,948,389 from the $163,285,502 distributed to them in March last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $27,936,312.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $30,718,552 sales tax disbursement and a $5,456,196 use tax disbursement.
