Seminole Sales Tax Revenue up For Month, Year

The March press release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole, which has a 0.04 percent sales tax, saw a rise in tax revenue for the month of April compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also higher compared to April last year. Use Tax was also up for the month as well as for the year.

The latest OTC release explains the April 7, 2023 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from February 16th to 28th and estimated sales from March 1st to the 15th.

The CITY OF SEMINOLE received a $607,664.74Sales Tax disbursement. This was $80,612.60 (15.29%) more than the $527,052.14 returned last month. The return was $56145.83 (10.18%) more than the $556,872.42 reported last year.

The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s April Use Tax return of $59,960.70 was $15,309.46 (34.29%) more than last month’s $44,651.24 return. It was $11,789.84 (24.48%) more than last year’s $48,170.86 Use Tax return.

This report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $304,954.65 tax disbursement for April. This was $16,331.13 (5.66%) more than the $288,623.52 returned last month. It was $24,601.29 (8.78%) more than the $280,353.36 returned last year.

The Seminole County Use Tax return of $38,906.16 was $11,916.52 (44.15%) more than last month’s disbursement of $26,989.64. It was $2,519.32 (6.92%) more than the $36,386.84 returned last year.

The April sales tax disbursement fortheCITYOF WEWOKA of $76,350.30 was $10,727.53 (12.32%) less than last month’s return of $87,077.83. This disbursement was $366.09 (.48%) less than last year’s return of $76,716.39. Wewoka has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Wewoka Use Tax return was $11,911.18. This was $1,129.28 (10.47%) more than the March return of $10,781.90. It was $614.74 (4.91%) less than last year’s $12,525.92 return.

The CITY OF KONAWA received a $35,469.13 April Sales Tax disbursement. This was $4,379.02 (14.08%) more than the $31,090.11 returned last month, and $3,300.01 (10.26%) more than the $32,169.12 return in April last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax.

The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for April was $6,935.97. This was $2,135.65 (44.49%) more than last month’s $4,800.32 disbursement and $1,987.39 (22.27%) less than the $8,923.36 return last year.

The CITY OF MAUD receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,969.53 return for April. This was $896.90 (7.56%) more than last month’s $11,866.43 return. It was $4.78 (0.04%) less than last year’s $10,964.75 return. Maud has a 0.04 percent sales tax. (Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $10,039.88).

Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,655.83. This was $933.56 (129.25%) more than the $722.27 March return. It was $707.95 (74.69%) more than last year’s $947.88 return. (Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $2,714.74).

The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $4,578.85 sales tax disbursement for April. This was $118.96 (2.67%) more than the $4,459.89 March return and $693.88 (17.86%) more than last year’s return of $3,884.97. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not receive a Use Tax disbursement.

The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $2,845.60 disbursement for April. This was $53.74 (1.92%) more than last month’s $2,791.86 disbursement. It was $1,923.99 (40.34%) less than last year’s $4,769.59 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax.

The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $3,419.25 disbursement forApril. This was $990.01 (22.45%) less than the $4,409.26 March disbursement and $445.70 (14.99%) more than the $2,973.55 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.

The April OTC release shows the statewide disbursement of $187,412,022 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $8,336,174 from the $179,075,848 distributed to them in April last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $32,463,162.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $31,960,378 sales tax disbursement and a $5,898,253 use tax disbursement.
