Seminole County Premium Sale Tonight at Haney Center

Posted in:

Tonight, Thursday February 23, the public can make a positive contribution to the Seminole County 4-H and FFA youth by “purchasing” an animal that has been the long-time project of a 4-H or FFA student’s activities. The auction will be held at the Seminole State College Haney Center. A complimentary dinner will be served to premium sale buyers and exhibitors beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Premium Auction at 7:00 p.m.

This auction is solely a premium sale, and the student will be able to keep his animal. This sale rewards the student for the long hours and money spent raising a show animal over the past six months to a year.

The animals will not actually be at the Premium Sale, so for those that were unable to attend the livestock show last week there will be a slide show of the animal with the student that is involved.

Organizers explain that your purchase helps support county youth in this character-building activity. Purchases by a business is a great way to advertise and promote your business or firm, and premium purchase may be tax deductible as advertisement. Each buyer will receive a 5” by 7” color portrait of the student with the animal your premium “purchased.” This portrait is suitable for framing and would make a wonderful display in your home, office, or place of business.

For those that wish to support a student but can’t attend or are unable to afford the bidding, “addons can be made in any amount, and will be given to the exhibitor. These can be made at the sale, online, or mailed to the OSU Extension office.

The Premium Sale is an important part of the OSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program, which is to provide Oklahoma youth, families, and communities with educational programs which will create environments for diverse audiences of youth and adults to reach their fullest potential by developing and enhancing skills for living.
