Seminole Authorities Seek Public Help in Locating Arson Suspect

Posted in:

Local authorities are seeking help from the public with identifying a suspect in an arson investigation.

The public can visit the Seminole Fire Department Facebook page to view footage from a security video that shows a person wearing a purple hoodie and purple sweatpants with black boots throwing something into a carport and then take off running right before the fire started. The contents of the carport included the homeowner’s motorcycles.

The fire was discovered Wednesday morning just after 9 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Second Street. The fire department was summoned, but the homeowner had already extinguished the fire by the time firefighters arrived. Assistant Fire Chief Scott Childers told reporters that the crew that was on scene investigating the incidents noticed it looked suspicious. Once they viewed the homeowner’s security video their suspicions were confirmed.

The homeowner did not recognize the suspect.

Although nobody was hurt in this incident, Childers notes the outcome may have been different if the suspect had thrown something in the house, especially if everyone inside had been asleep at the time. This is why they believe it is important to find the person responsible for this fire.

If you or someone you know has any information that may help locate this suspect, please call the Seminole Police Department at 405-3823434 or the Seminole Fire Department at 405382-1314.
