Search For Missing New Lima Woman Continues
Search efforts were still ongoing Wednesday for a Seminole County woman who went missing three weeks ago.
Ruth Louie, 82, was last seen on the afternoon of Feb. 4 in the Twin Bridges area of Highway 270 near New Lima. She was seen getting into a white Nissan Altima.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert for Louie on Feb. 6 and requested the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) with locating her.
On Wednesday, searchers began combing a wooded area near a pond alongside EW1270 Road, just east of New Lima School.
“We’ve got agents and volunteers from all over Oklahoma out here looking for Ruth,” Seminole County Sheriff Shannon Smith said. “We’re not giving up. We’re following every lead we have.”
Smith said in addition to his office, the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Department, the Tuttle Fire Department and the Chickasaw Fire Department have been involved in the search effort.
A K-9 team from Ground Zero in Tuttle was also brought in to aid in the search for Louie. The Ground Zero Training Center is a non-profit organization that provides first responders with specially trained search and rescue canines. The training center was founded in 2017 by former University of Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer and his wife, Becky.
Louie was wearing a coat, a blue shirt and red pants when she disappeared. She is described as an African Ameri-can/American Indian woman with brown eyes, who stands about 5’2” and weighs between 140 and 150 pounds.
Anyone with knowledge of Louie’s whereabouts should call the sheriff’s office at (405) 257-5445 or the OSBI at (800) 522-8017. Anonymous tips may be provided via email at tips.osbi.ok.gov.
