The Lady Outlaws fired back in the second and closed the gap some with 14 points of their own. Sasakwa still had the lead heading into the half with a score of 24-21.

The Lady Vikings never lost their cool and continued with their game plan in the second half. The defense of Sasakwa held the Lady Outlaws to 7 points in the third.

Weleetka continued to battle but could not catch up as the Sasakwa Lady Vikings cruised in for the win. Final score of the game was 47-35 Sasakwa Lady Vikings.

“Another rough one for us,” stated Head Coach Rikki Wolfe.

“We started out strong and then hit a bit of a wall, but the girls found a way to get the job done. We are still shorthanded. Allie is unfortunately out for the season and Mena should be back for playoffs. The girls are staying strong.”

Scoring for the Lady Vikings was Emileigh Palmer with19 points, Elle Odom with 15, Cednei Hulbutta with 6 and Alina Rangel with 5. Rangel and Odom each knocked down a threepoint shot.

Next up was the Sasakwa Viking boys facing the Weleetka boys. The Vikings came out of the gate and dominated the first quarter. Their defense held the Outlaws to only 5 points in the quarter.

Weleetka settled down and came back in the second with 14 points scored and had the lead by 1 heading into the half.

Both teams fought hard in the third and kept the game close within 2-point difference. Again, the teams continued the battle in the final quarter, but the Vikings fought harder and tied the game up at the end of regulation 38-38.

The game went into overtime and the Weleetka Outlaws managed to pull out the victory at the end of overtime 47-40.

“We jumped on them first led by Shaun early,” stated Head Coach Chris Jones.

“We got in some foul trouble, and they made a run back at us. We were down 8 points with just over a minute to go and Waylon Phillips hit a 3 then Shaun stole the inbounds pass to score a layup to cut it to 3. We held them the next possession and AJ hit his 4th three pointer of the game to tie it with just under 30 seconds to go. We went into OT and just ran out of gas.”

Scoring for the Sasakwa Vikings was Shaun Franks with 20 points with three 3-point shots.

A.J. Webb had 14 points with four 3-point shots.

Next up for Sasakwa is Varnum but may be rescheduled due to weather again. Sasakwa had Maud on the 31st at home and Earlsboro away on the 2nd of February.
