Sales, Use Tax Revenue up For City of Seminole
The City of Seminole saw significant increases in both sales tax revenue and use tax collections with the February distribution from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC).
According to the OTC, the city received a sales tax distribution of $528,478.27 up 16 percent over February 2020 when the amount was $454,416.35. The February distribution from the OTC was based primarily on December transactions.
The city also received a use tax disbursement this month from the OTC in the amount of $61,369.23, up nearly five percent from last February’s amount of $58,567.11. Use tax is collected when goods are purchased from outside of Oklahoma (online or otherwise) then used inside the state.
Seminole County coffers saw increases in both sales and use tax revenue. According to the OTC, the county received a sales tax disbursement of $261,022.16, a slight increase over last February’s amount of $259,442.43. The county’s use tax distribution this month totaled $61,369.23, up nearly five percent over February 2020’s amount of $58,567.11.

The February distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business.
Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Dec. 16 – 31 and estimated sales from Jan. 1 – 15.
