The Sac and Fox Nation announces a ceremonious event to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21 with the posting of colors at the Veteran’s Memorial just North of the Sac and Fox Nation Jim Thorpe Park.

Alexis Andres, the Consul General of France will present the Legion of Honor Award to Donna Couteau, the daughter of Don Couteau, for Couteau’s service in World War II.

The event will be emceed by Master of Ceremonies, Joaquin Hamilton and prayer will be offered by Sac and Fox Veteran and Elder, Lawrence Kabeah. Speakers will include Donna Couteau, Sac and Fox Elder and Veteran Sonny Masquat, Jr., French Consul General Alexis Andres, and Chief Justin Wood. The ceremony will include Sac and Fox Drum. Following the ceremony a traditional Sac and Fox meal will be presented at the community building.

In addition, Seminole resident Mary F. McCormick, a Sac and Fox Elder and former Business Committee member, will be discussing her long friendship with Don Couteau.
