Rehab of Water Tower on Boren Boulevard Gets Underway; Project Involves Draining
A water tower rehabilitation got underway Jan. 12 on Boren Boulevard. The rehabilitation will last approximately 30-40 days. Water Maintenance Supervisor Curtis Mooney will lead his team to drain the water tower.
“There is some science and art to draining a water tower without our customers noticing a difference in their service. We do not anticipate this process to effect the water pressure, however, it is always possible to experience changes in the water system during any type of water maintenance,” says Public Works Director Bryant Baker.
The rehabilitation is necessary to maintain and improve the water system.
“We look forward to continued improvement in our water system.
This another major improvement in line with the City Council’s vision to upgrade our water system. That same vision has replaced miles and miles of 80-year-old sewer and water lines over the last several years. When the Mayor and City Council put their confidence in us by hiring a line replacement crew, they saved our taxpayers millions. Case in point, Eufaula is doing a $9 million water line replacement project to deal with their aging water lines,” says City Manager Steve Saxon.
