Regents Lift SSC Campus-Wide Mask Mandate
Seminole State College will no longer require masks on campus except in limited settings – a decision made at the May 20 Board of Regents meeting. The Board voted to repeal the campus-wide mask mandate put into place on June 23, 2020. This decision will go into effect immediately.
“As we continue to follow the science related to COVID-19, we felt it was time to relax the mask requirements on our campus – with a few exceptions. We will ask that those gathering in areas where social distancing is difficult, such as lab settings, still wear a mask. Summer camps and other campus programs may require masks in accordance with established policies. We will continue to promote and encourage the importance of receiving a vaccine to help protect those on our campus. It is still our top priority to take care of our employees and students, and we want to continue to help keep everyone safe,” said SSC President Lana Reynolds.
During the May meeting, the Board also accepted the resignation of the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and approved a bid for the replacement of the roof on the Raymond Harber Field House.
The Board accepted the resignation of Vice President for Fiscal Affairs Courtney Jones. Jones has accepted the Director of Benefits, Compensation and Human Resources Information System position at Oklahoma City Community College.
“We’re thankful for Courtney’s outstanding service at SSC, especially in the face of challenges posed by the pandemic. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” President Reynolds said.
The College has moved forward with an external search to fill the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs position.
Board members also accepted a bid from Central Sheet Metal L.L.C. for the replacement of the roof on the Raymond Harber Fieldhouse.
On the consent agenda, Regents approved the 2021-2022 calendar of events and holiday schedule, as well as a number of cooperative agreements with technology centers from across the state for the College’s online business operations associate in applied technology degree program. These agreements allow the College to accept up to nine hours in approved coursework from career technology centers. An LPN to RN online degree program proposal to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education was also approved by the Board.
Board members present at the meeting were: Chair Curtis Morgan, Bryan Cain, Marci Donaho, Kim Hyden, Ray McQuiston and Ryan Pitts.
The next SSC Board of Regents meeting is set for Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
