A Promise Of Return

Posted in:

When Jesus Ascended back to heaven there was a promise made that He would return. In Acts 1:10- 11 the Bible says, “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

For me there is no questions as to whether or not the Lord Jesus Christ will one day return for His Church and then execute judgment upon this world.

When will He return? The Bible tells us that no one but AlmightyGod knows the day and the hour that Jesus will return but the Bible also tells us to prepare ourselves and be ready. In fact it says in the word of God in 2 Peter 3:10, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” You may or may not believe the word of God but that is okay, the word of God is not dependent on men for validation, it is true whether a man believes it or not.

The Bible tells us that God Himself stepped out of eternity and into time and that Jesus came as a babe in a manger the first time to bring mercy and grace to men.

Jesus came to save the souls of men by taking our place in death to pay the payment for our sin that we were incapable of paying.

He was murdered on a cross, buried in a borrowed grave and resurrected as the Living God. After His resurrection Jesus ascended to heaven to present His sacrifice as an atonement for our sin and then He returned to validate the gospel in His resurrected state.

After this He ascended back to heaven with a promise that He would one day return again. I personally believe that time is upon us.

The Lord Jesus and the Apostles told us that certain things must come to pass before Jesus returns and those things have fallen into place. Jesus said, “He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” Discernment in Okie terms simply means to figure something out.

As I watch world events I can see things falling into place for the return of the Savior.

Before Jesus returns the Lord promised that Israel would return to the promised land.

Our Lord brought that pass through the events of World War I and II.Through those series of events the Jewish people were persecuted and displaced.

They were eventually run out of Europe in World War IIas they began to return to Israel in hopes of reestablishing themselves as a nation. On the May 14 th 1948 Israel was reestablished as a nation and Jews throughout the world began to return to their homeland as promised in scripture.

One can criticize the word of God all that He wants to but one thing that cannot be denied is that it is the only book ever given to man that has been one hundred percent accurate in it’s prophecy and the fulfillment of all that it says.

The Return of Jesus is one of those prophecies. Before His return there are certain things that have to happen and we have seen them all occur.

I see God unfolding His plan and setting the stage for the return of Jesus and the final judgment.

I am amazed more and more every day at how God is bring His plan to fruition. Though the future is still a mystery, I and most Christians believe that When Jesus returns for His Church that He will appear in the clouds and we will be caught up with Jesus in the clouds and taken to heaven.

We will be there for seven years facing the judgment seat of Christ where we will be judged for what we have and have not done with the life that Jesus has given us.

During that time the world will experience a short time of peace and then the judgment of God as God pours out His wrath on mankind for their rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ and the violation of His law.

This will be a horrible time of tragedy, pain and suffering.

It will be a time when men will run underground in an attempt to escape God and yet kill those that are chosen to represent Him. It will be a time when men as a whole will once again be offered salvation and yet will curse God and continue to deny Him.

Jesus will return for a final battle with mankind as men gather in opposition to Him at the battle of Armageddon where Jesus will destroy the enemy with a word of His mouth.

Ultimately and finally those that have rejected the sacrifice, mercy and grace offered by Jesus will be judged at the Great White Throne of God.

They will be condemned to a sinners hell to burn for the rest of eternity as a punishment for their rejection of the grace of God.

There are only two sides in the battle for the souls of men. Choose wisely for by choice you are on one side or the other.

Keep Looking up and don’t be left behind for His return is near.
