Preface
Oklahoma, despite historical context, has never been socially known for being heavily involved in African American history despite multiple civil rights milestones being established here along with some more “unsavory’ acts being staged here. Regardless, Oklahoma is actually an extremely important state in regards to African-American history, and this February for Black History month, we at the Big Chief have decided to highlight some of the most important figures and events that took place in Oklahoma in regards to African-American History.
