Police Receive Anonymous Tip On Vandalism; Suspects ID’d

Posted in:

Through an anonymous tip from a witness, three people, two adults and one juvenile, have been identified that were responsible for the damage done to Dinosaur Park located next to the Splash Pad.

According to the Seminole Police Department, charges will be brought before the City Court prosecutor for evaluation. The names of the suspects had not been released as of press time.

“Seminole PD wants to thank those responsible for bringing the information forward,” the police department posted to its social media page Wednesday morning. As reported in the March

As reported in the March 31 edition of the Seminole Producer, the playground was found damaged and disassembled by police officers on Sunday morning, March 28.

Officer Gabe Wind went to the park to find it ripped apart with beer cans scattered all around it. The park will be closed until further noticed, city officials said.

Last year Seminole Police took 41 reports of vandalism, and so far, at the end of March (just three months into year 2021) there have been 10 reports.

The city says vandalism affects a community’s quality of life for many reasons:

-Vandalism takes away time from city employees to get other important tasks completed.

-It takes money to fix problems caused by vandalism, which then takes away budget for another job to be completed.

-It makes City Council members leery about putting in new parks or nice recreational equipment around Seminole.

If anyone sees acts of vandalism, please contact the police department by calling 405-382-9340. Citizens may remain anonymous when giving information.
