Police Collar Fleeing Suspect in Parking Lot
Suspect had active felony, misdemeanor warrants
A Seminole man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a foot chase through the parking lot of a local business late Monday afternoon.
According to a police report, Corporal Logan Gray of the Seminole Police Department was dispatched to Walmart at about 3:50 p.m. Monday on reports of a protective order violation.
The reporting party had called police and said that Kenneth Earl Stillwell was following her around the store. Gray stated in the police report that he knew Stillwell had active felony and misdemeanor warrants.
When Gray arrived on scene, he observed Stillwell getting into a blue car, and Gray and Lt. Chris Ayers used their police vehicles to block him from fleeing. According to the police report, Stillwell exited the vehicle and took off on foot.
Gray said he pursued Stillwell, who had begun running in various directions throughout the parking lot. Gray deployed his taser twice in an attempt to immobilize Stillwell, but both shots were unsuccessful. Stillwell allegedly pushed someone who was standing in the parking lot as he continued to flee, according to the police report.
Stillwell surrendered near the gas station located in the parking lot after Police Chief (See Arrest on Page 12) Jon Withers attempted to cut him off with his vehicle. Gray took Stillwell into custody and he was placed in Officer Gabe Wind’s patrol unit.
Stillwell was placed under arrest for his outstanding warrants plus new charges of obstructing an office and simple assault. He was transported to the Seminole County Jail and booked in without incident.
After the pursuit, Gray made contact with the person that was allegedly pushed by Stillwell during the pursuit. According to the police report, the subject said she was loading groceries into her car when a man ran up to her and hit her in the left shoulder and back, nearly knocking her to the ground. She identified the assailant as Stillwell.
Court records indicate that in 2018, Stillwell entered a guilty plea to charges of placing bodily fluid on a government employee. His past charges also include blackmail and domestic assault and battery.
