OSBI Seeks Public’s Help in Young Woman’s Death

The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation continues to search for information concerning the March 28 death of 23-year-old Faithe Ely. On Monday they released a newly enhanced version of a video that was circulated earlier that makes it easier to see a light-colored pickup with four doors pulling a trailer. Based on the video, the OSBI believes the trailer has working rear and sidelights, and is equipped with a rear folding ramp or gate.

Agents would like to speak to the driver of the truck to see if they saw Ely walking along Highway 56 or otherwise saw anything unusual in the area between 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm on the evening of March 28. Ely was found deceased just south of the intersection of Highway 56 and EW 136 Rd. which is approximately halfway between Wewoka and Sasakwa. The Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined Ely’s injuries were consistent with an individual that was struck by a moving vehicle.

Ely was the mother of a six-year-old and a toddler. Her older brother, Steven, died in a car accident almost exactly nine months earlier. that witnesses reported seeing a truck and trailer in the area within moments of the incident. OSBI agents were able to locate the surveillance video that matched the witness description on the truck. The OSBI has enhanced the video optimistic that someone will recognize it and contact the Bureau.
