One Northwood Class Shifted to Distance Learning Due to COVID

Posted in:

Seminole Public Schools has one class quarantined to distance learning for the remainder of this week and next week, due to contact tracing of positive COVID test, Superintendent Dr. Bob Gragg announced Wednesday.

The following letter from Stephanie Killian, the district’s chief COVID officer and school nurse, was sent to parents/guardians of students on March 23.

“Seminole Public Schools have been notified of a person in the 4th grade at Northwood Elementary who has tested positive for COVID-19. Individuals testing positive are required to isolate for 10-days and will be notified by the local health department.

Contact tracing for Northwood Elementary is done. First level contacts (anyone who is identified to have been within 6 feet of the positive individual for 15 minutes or longer at any time during the virus infectious period) will be required to quarantine according to CDC guidelines. Quarantine is required after contact with a positive person for 7 days with no symptoms and a negative COVID-19 test or 10 days without a COVID-19 test and no symptoms. All students and families have been notified at this time and have been moved to Distance Learning status during the isolation/quarantine periods.

If you have reason to believe that your child may have had contact or have further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Seminole County Health Department at (405) 382-4369 or dial 211. You may also contact the school nurse for any questions or concerns.”
