The Oklahoma Museums Association (OMA) and museums across the state will celebrate Oklahoma Museums Week March 12-18. Using a series of hashtags on social media, OMA will highlight and celebrate the diverse museum community.

Sunday, March 12: #OnlyInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Monday, March 13: #ArtandCultureInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Tuesday, March 14: #InteractiveInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Wednesday, March 15: #BehindTheScenesInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Thursday, March 16: #ExploringInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Friday, March 17: #PastPresentAnd-FutureInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek Saturday, March 18: #MakingADifferenceInOK #OklahomaMuseumsWeek “This is a great way to highlight Oklahoma’s 500-plus museums and let the public know what great things Oklahoma museums are doing,” said Brenda Granger, Director of the Oklahoma Museums Association. “We hope to educate connected audiences, stakeholders and policymakers as well as encourage visitors to get out and explore Oklahoma during spring break and beyond.”

The Oklahoma Museums Association will lead an online conversation by featuring a hashtag and theme for each day of the week. All museums and cultural institutions are encouraged to use the daily hashtag in addition to the Oklahoma Museums Week hashtag to post content surrounding their institution’s mission, programming, collection and exhibitions.

Governor Stitt issued a proclamation declaring March 12-18, 2023 as Oklahoma Museums Week. Earlier, OMA reached out to all Oklahoma legislators to let them know what museums and cultural institutions are in their district.

The Oklahoma Museums Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 1972. Programming offered by the Oklahoma Museums Association is important as the primary source of information and professional development for Oklahoma’s 500 museums, historical societies, historic sites, zoos and botanical gardens, historic houses, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and other museum-related institutions.
