OESC to Host Career Fairs in Oklahoma City and Tulsa

Posted in:

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) will host career fairs at the River Spirit Expo at Tulsa Expo Square on Wednesday, June 23 and the Oklahoma City Convention Center on Friday, June 25, to connect job seekers and actively hiring employers.

“We’re looking forward to hosting this next round of career fairs in Tulsa and Oklahoma City this June,” said Shelley Zumwalt, OESC Executive Director. “We hope Oklahomans will find this opportunity beneficial as they begin to apply for the governor’s $1,200 Return-to-Work Incentive. Right now, the number of employers registered for our career fairs represent more than 12,000 open positions that could qualify certain claimants to apply for the incentive. We are encouraging those interested in applying for the incentive to register and attend these events.”

The Return-to-Work Incentive is available to the first 20,000 eligible claimants who filed for unemployment benefits between May 2-15 and who work one full-time job or two part-time jobs that equal more than 32 hours per work for more than six consecutive weeks. Claimants can begin applying for the incentive on June 28.

Job seekers in the Oklahoma City area will find open positions across a variety of businesses and industries, including the Amazon, City of Oklahoma City, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Volunteers of America, and the United States Postal Service. The Tulsa career fair will have employers like the City of Tulsa, Utica Park Clinic & Oklahoma Heart Institute and Oklahoma State University.

“The agency is committed to helping job seekers find employment as federal unemployment benefits come to an end this month,” said Zumwalt. “I hope that these events will help rebuild the local workforce and fill open positions. Those looking for job opportunities will have a variety of industries and positions to choose from at the upcoming career fairs.”

Pre-registration is not required, but the agency encourages Oklahomans in the areas to pre-register to attend the career fairs. Claimants who attend can fulfill their weekly work search requirement and network with local employers. Registration information for the June 23 and June 25 events can be found at http://regpack.com/reg/oesc21.

In addition, for those who are unable to attend in person, OESC is also hosting a virtual career fair through June 30.
