Local Sales Tax Revenue Down, Use Tax up For City & County

Posted in:

The coffers at both Seminole City Hall and the county seat saw a slight decrease from this time last year with the April sales tax distribution from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC).

According to the OTC, the city received $454,483.15, down nearly three percent from April 2020’s amount of $467,892.95. The county’s distribution of $228,451.06 was down one percent from last April, when the amount was $231,452.03. This month’s distribution was based primarily on February sales tax receipts.

While sales tax receipts were down, use tax revenue was up for both the city and the county. The city received $44,137.24, a 15 percent increase over April 2020 when the amount was $38,396.79. The county’s distribution of $29,575.66 was nearly 12 percent higher than last April’s disbursement of $26,514.92. Use tax is based largely on purchases made online.

The monies they reported this period represent sales from Feb. 16 – 28 and estimated sales from March 1 - 15.
