Local FFA Member, Trombonist To Take Stage at National Expo
Payton Irick, a member of the Seminole FFA chapter, will be on stage and in the spotlight Oct. 27-30 during the 2021 National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.
Payton, a senior and the daughter of Shawn and Heather Irick, has been selected to play trombone in the National FFA Band. She submitted an audition video and was selected to help bring full instrumental balance to the band of approximately 85 from a pool of applicants nationwide.
According to Band Director Steve Johnson, Irick is the only Seminole student to make the band two years in a row, and in May, she was awarded as State Champion in Brass Quintet.
“Payton is an outstanding musician and student,” Johnson stated.
The National FFA Band will perform several times during the national convention and expo. Irick will join fellow band members in Indianapolis for rehearsals three days before the convention and expo begins.
Corteva Agriscience sponsors the National FFA Band.
The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 735,000 student members as part of 8,817 local FFA chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
