Konawa Hires FT City Manager; Clerk Resigns at Monday Meeting
An emergency meeting of the Konawa City Council Monday evening culminated with the removal of the “interim” status for one employee and the resignation of another.
The council voted to hire Brett Wade, who was brought on as interim city manager in January, on a full-time basis. Wade was hired to replace Tim Coffey, who had served as city manager from August 2017 until his resignation in January.
Coffey’s appointment followed the departure of Eric Kuykendall, who resigned in June 2017. Kuykendall had been with the city since 2015, after the dismissal of Joe Leeds, who was terminated in May of that year. Leeds had also served as police chief. He turned in his badge shortly after being terminated as city manager.
Also on Monday, City Clerk Christy Donnelly tendered her resignation to the council. The city posted to its website Tuesday that applications are being taken to fill her position. Applications may be dropped off at City Hall (122 N. Broadway) or submitted via email to April@konawa.ok.com. The job responsibilities include maintaining the city’s financial records and recording the meetings of the city and its related authorities.
The next regular meeting of the city council is slated for Monday, May 3. All city council meetings are open to the public.
