Konawa Chamber of Commerce Continues Beautification of Park
Building on the momentum from a previous project, the Konawa Chamber of Commerce is continuing its efforts to beautify Veterans Memorial Park.
Earlier this year, new playground equipment was installed in the city park, which was made possible through a partnership between the Chamber, the City of Konawa and the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET). The Chamber is now wanting to place benches around the park.
“The Konawa Chamber of Commerce wants to help make the park a safe place families can enjoy. After the construction of the new playground equipment, we felt we should continue to build on the excitement,” said Matt Dean, President of the Konawa Chamber of Commerce.
“We looked at different options for the benches, different companies, and felt this was the best route to take. Not only does the money stay in Oklahoma, but by purchasing products from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Oklahoma Correctional Industries, it also helps provide employable skills,” Dean added.
The chamber is seeking help from the public in making the park bench project a reality. Bench order forms are available at Sooner State Bank, located at 127 N. Broadway. The backs of the benches
The backs of the benches may be customized at no additional charge. The benches have a 14-gauge steel frame with 16-gauge steel components. The dimensions are 72” W x 23” D x 23 H.
The bench colors will be either red or blue to keep the patriotic theme at the park, and will be chosen by the number of orders received.
