Kids Fishing Tournament Returns Saturday For 48th Run

Posted in:

The Seminole Bass Club will hold its 48th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament at Sportsman Lake (main camping area) this Saturday, June 26.

The tournament, which will take place at the main camping area, will begin at 8:30 a.m. with all kids finding a fishing spot from the main boat ramp to the RV dump station area just south of the camping area.

The tournament will end at 11 a.m., at which time all fish caught (all species/no turtles) will be weighed at the pavilion and lunch for everyone, including parents/guardians, will be served. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, chili, chips, soft drink, and a desert.

Prizes will be awarded immediately following lunch, which will consist of a trophy for the first-place finisher in each age category and fishing equipment for everyone.

Parents may assist kids under the age of six, however, parents may not catch fish for the kids. Participants will be divided up into the following age groups: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15 years old. Kids must supply their own fishing equipment and bait and all participants must fish from the shore.

Seminole Bass Club members will be offering donation tickets (not required to fish or have lunch) which are used to finance the event. A ticket drawing will be held, and the first prize winner will receive a $100 Walmart gift certificate. The second prize is a rod and reel, the third prize is a Zebco 33 and a tackle box will be awarded to the fourth place winner. Additional drawings will be held for several door prizes.

COVID-19 forced the bass club to cancel the tournament in 2020. Also, due to kids participating in baseball and softball last weekend, the club decided to delay the tournament to the Saturday after Father’s Day in an effort to attract more kids to the outdoor sport of fishing.
