An investigation is currently underway after human remains were discovered at a rural location near Sasakwa.

Seminole County Sheriff’s Investigator J. T. Palmer explains that the Sheriff’s office received a call on Tuesday around noon from an individual concerned about a person that lives in a secluded area south of Sasakwa that could not be contacted.

When the Sheriff’s Office did a safety check they were unable to locate the homeowner, but they did discover human bones around the home.

As of Wednesday, officials were still recovering remains but had not found anything that would help to identify them such as, for example, a jawbone or teeth that would help with dental records.

Investigator Palmer stated they were not assuming the remains are from the homeowner they had gone to check on, and a DNA test will be performed as part of the investigation.

Last month, a human skull was found on property near Highway 59 and Cherry Hill Road (NS 346) in Pottawatomie County. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office told news sources that the people that run a cattle operation reported the remains on March 7.
