Griffin Wins Third Term as Mayor of Seminole

Posted in:

Jeff Griffin has been elected to a third term as mayor of Seminole.

In an election held Tuesday, Feb. 14, Griffin captured 220 of the 257 votes cast, while his challenger, Stephanie Davis, received only votes. The mayor’s race was the only race on the ballot, as all open seats on the city council were unchallenged. Incumbents Dana Miller, Eddie Foreman, Tim Poplin and Chris Anson kept their respective seats by default.

Tuesday was an extremely windy day, and Griffin thanked voters who for venturing outdoors to cast their ballots.

“I’m very pleased to be elected for a third term as Mayor. I want to thank those that braved the wind to perform one of our most sacred rights and cast their vote,” Griffin said. “It is an exciting time in Seminole with the growth we are seeing. With the City Council members retaining their seats I look forward to the next two years.”

Griffin, a lifelong resident of Seminole, was first elected Mayor in 2019. He served on the city council for over 10 years but resigned from that position when he moved out of the ward he represented. He recently retired from Enviro after more than 30 years of service there.

Griffin has also served on the Central Oklahoma Com-munity Action Agency Board for Autumn Ridge Housing, the Seminole County Health Dept. Board, the Central Oklahoma Workforce Innovation Board, and as an advisor to the Gordon Cooper Technology Center. He is graduate of Varnum High School.

The next election is set for Tuesday, March 7. On the ballot is State Question 820, the legalization of marijuana in Oklahoma.
