Fullstack Academy and the University of Oklahoma Launch Bootcamps to Train Professionals for Growing Cybersecurity and Coding Industries
New 26-Week, Live Online Part-Time Programs Geared Towards Filling In-Demand Tech Jobs Across Oklahoma.
In response to the demand for cybersecurity and coding professionals across the Midwest, Fullstack Academy announced today the launch of two skills training bootcamp programs with its partner, the University of Oklahoma.
Offered through OU Outreach, the bootcamps feature tracks in coding and cybersecurity, training early-career and experienced professionals of any IT skill level for high-paying, in-demand tech jobs in Oklahoma and beyond. Today, over 2,800 cybersecurity positions (Cyberseek) and 1,300 software development jobs (LinkedIn) are currently available across the Sooner State.
“From energy and bioscience to aviation and aerospace, a growing need exists for qualified cybersecurity and coding professionals to protect the circulation of information and keep pace with the digital transformation of several organizations across Oklahoma,” said Nimit Maru, co-founder and co-CEO of Fullstack Academy. “Through bootcamps offered with our esteemed partners at the University of Oklahoma, we will provide a valuable resource for individuals entering these sectors, helping them and hone their skill sets to fill these available tech positions.”
Bootcamp graduates will qualify for cybersecurity jobs, which in Oklahoma command for an average entry-level salary of $61,605, according to ZipRecruiter. These salaries rank 16% higher than the state’s average entry-level salary across all other industries for those with a bachelor’s degree ($52,693). At all levels, Oklahoma’s average cybersecurity salary is nearly six-figures, currently at $94,698.
Applications are now being accepted for the new part-time, 26-week University of Oklahoma Outreach Tech Bootcamps, which will be presented in a live online format. The OU Outreach Cyber Bootcamp will teach students how to monitor and secure systems, networks and applications, as well as deploy offensive and defensive tactics needed to appropriately respond to cyber breaches. The OU Outreach Coding Bootcamp will provide fullstack JavaScript training, giving students a foundation in both front- and back-end web development and the crucial programming skills needed for in-demand coding jobs.
“As part of our commitment to delivering exceptional and accessible education, the OU Outreach Tech Bootcamps offer students an accelerated training platform, enabling them to quickly qualify for opportunities in growing professions, while positioning ourselves as a valuable resource helping local tech employers fill important IT roles,” said Dr. Belinda Biscoe, senior associate vice president of University Outreach for the University of Oklahoma. “Fullstack Academy has a well-documented reputation for developing qualified coding and cybersecurity talent, which is in significant demand across the state. These bootcamps will play an integral role in the tech industry in Oklahoma and the Midwest.”
The bootcamps, which do not require OU enrollment or prior technical experience, run from May to October 2021. Students must apply for the cybersecurity bootcamp by April 22 and the coding bootcamp by April 29. Scholarships are offered for OU alumni, current students, and employees, as well as military personnel.

About OU Outreach College of Continuing Education
In 1957, Thurman J. White secured one of 12 grants given by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for creating university-based residential conference centers around the world. The grant, the largest the university had received to date, was used to build the Thurman J. White Forum and other structures that, when completed in 1962, formed the Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education. As OCCE developed and expanded, the Association for Continuing Higher Education and the International Association of Continuing Education Hall of Fame were also added. During his 43 years at OU, White worked to develop programs that benefitted non-traditional learners throughout the state, while promoting advanced learning opportunities for private businesses, government agencies, and other institutions. White’s vision continues to evolve. Today, OU Outreach College of Continuing Education is a lifelong learning organization dedicated to helping individuals, businesses, groups, and communities transform themselves through knowledge.
