Free Summer Kid’s Movies Return to Local Theater
Strothers Cinema has announced that they are again offering Free Summer Kid’s Movies every Tuesday and Thursday from June 1 through July 1.
Movies will start each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and will include films such as “Boss Baby,” “Trolls,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “Captain Underpants” and “Home.”
“Thanks to our sponsors, we can offer the children of our community movie events that can again brighten summer vacation for a lot of kids,” said Steve Schoaps, co-owner of Strother Cinema. “Lisa and I are both so thankful to all of our sponsors who make it possible for us to bring these fun films to share with the children in our community free of charge.”
Sponsors of the Summer Kid’s Movie Program include Pam Robinson Real Estate, Karrie & Jim Utterback, Marci & Dale Donaho, Lisa & David Cobb, Claudia & Ernie Willis, Rebecca & Harrel Kennedy, Church of Christ of Seminole, TS&H Shirt Company, Oklahoma Pipe Sales, Swearingen Funeral Homes, Banc-First of Seminole, Security State Bank of Seminole, First United Bank of Seminole, First Baptist Church of Seminole and Brian Geist of Edward Jones.
“We had to skip a year last year due to the COVID pandemic but the Summer Kid’s Movies were so successful before, we just had to do it again,” said Schoaps. “There are hundreds of kids that are looking for something to do in the summer and we love seeing them at the movies. It bothered us to see so many kids unable to afford snacks when they came to the movies. So this year, every child 12 and under who comes to the movies gets a free popcorn and drink snack. We owe a debt of gratitude to our sponsors who make all of this possible.”
This summer’s film schedule is: June 1 & 3 - “Boss Baby.” June 8 & 10 - “Trolls,” June 15 & 17 - “Kung Fu Panda,” June 22 & 24 - “Captain Underpants” and June 29 & July 1 - “Home”. All films will start at 10:00 AM at Strother Cinema.
“Some kids don’t get to go to the movies and that’s a shame,” Schoaps said. “If we can get just a few kids to the movies to laugh and have fun, then all this is worthwhile. We love to see the smiles on their faces when they’ve had such a good time. After all, that’s what movies are all about.”
