Former Seminole Cop Charged With Felony
Women Make Allegations of Attempted Touching Without Consent, Getting Asked to Disrobe
A former Seminole Police Officer has been charged with one felony and one misdemeanor in relation to allegations of lewd behavior.
Zachery Dennis, who was terminated from the police force more than three years ago, is facing charges of assault with intent to commit a felony and acts resulting in gross injury/outraging public decency. The latter charge is a misdemeanor.
According to court documents, Dennis has been accused of asking a female to disrobe in his presence while he was on duty and, in a separate incident, attempting to touch a female without her consent. The incidents allegedly occurred on Nov. 21, 2017 and Jan. 26, 2018, respectively.
If convicted of the felony, Dennis faces a fine of $500 and up to five years in prison or one year in the county jail, or both the fine and imprisonment. The punishment for the misdemeanor is a fine of up to $500, up to one year in the county jail or both.
In March 2019, Dennis was charged with two felony counts of assisting lewd exhibition but, according to court records, those charges were dismissed last week without prejudice, meaning the case could be reopened. A trial had been scheduled for May 24, 2021.
On Jan. 26, 2018, allegations surfaced that Dennis took explicit photos of a female subject using his personal phone. The alleged incident took place as Dennis was giving the female a ride in his squad car. His body cam had reportedly been turned off during the alleged photo-taking incident.
Dennis was relieved of his duties as a police officer on Jan. 29, 2018 after being initially placed on modified duty. He had been with the department for only a short time and was still in his probationary period at the time of his termination.
The City of Seminole referred the case to the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation.
