Firebombs Found at Suspect’s Residence

Posted in:

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a potentially dangerous standoff situation after a search warrant was served in Seminole Monday evening. Fortunately, the situation was eventually resolved with no major injuries.

Seminole Police Chief Jon Withers said the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police served the arrest warrant on a suspect at a residence on Union Avenue. The suspect was uncooperative and ran back into his residence and hid inside a crawl space to avoid arrest. When the Lighthorse officers entered the residence, they allegedly discovered Molotov cocktails and a number of pipe bombs or materials for making pipe bombs. Neighbors were immediately warned of the potential threat. The ATF Bomb squad was notified and responded to the call. The Chickasaw Nation also provided support with their SWAT team. The situation was resolved at approximately 2:00 a.m. after tear gas was introduced into the home and the suspect surrendered. More details will be provided when they become available.
