Fire Engine, New Gym Equipment on Council Agenda
The Seminole City Council will consider making several purchases at its regular monthly meeting this evening, including a new fire engine and new workout equipment for the Reynolds Wellness Center.
According to the agenda, the council will consider the purchase of a 2010 Pierce fire engine at a cost of $200,000 from Fire Master Fire Equipment of Springfield, Missouri. The expenditure is a budgeted capital improvement project (CIP) item and will be funded from Series 205 bond proceeds. Also up for consideration is a $9,412.08 bid from Johnson Fitness and Wellness for three new cardio/weight machines at the Reynolds Wellness Center. This purchase is also a budgeted CIP and will be funded from Series 2010 bond proceeds.
Other bids for consideration include $19,249.65 from Seminole Chemicals and Supplies, Inc., for thirty- five air purifiers for city facilities (via a reimbursable Community Development Block Grant) and $15,160.00 from Core and Main for five chlorinators and materials for a water well, a budgeted CIP item to be funded from Series 2004 bond proceeds.
The council will also consider making purchases from insurance proceeds to replace items damaged in the May 2022 tornado. The city received a $31,920 bid from Power Play of Bixby to replace a slide at the splashpad that sustained storm damage. Another proposal on the agenda includes the purchase of two shipping containers to be placed at the Seminole State College baseball fields. The containers will be re-constructed and re-fitted as concessions at a cost of $50,500, to be funded from tornado insurance reimbursement funds.
The agenda also includes consideration of the sole bid of $6,976 from Commercial Bus & Vehicles, LLC, for two surplus ambulances, a 2010 Ford E350 and a 2013 Ford E350.
Other agenda items - Consideration and possible action to approve the annual Nutrition Site Agree ment with New Age Project, Inc. for the Heritage House.
- Consideration and possible action to approve the recommendation from the Boomtown Rebuild Committee to select Cunningham Recreations of North Carolina as the vendor to rebuild Boomtown Playground.
- Consideration and possible action to approve the request from the Seminole Urban Renewal Authority (SURA) to allocate and re-allocate specified SURA budgeted items.
- Consideration and disenrollment. Their new possible action regarding the original appropriation to replace fencing at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course and consider re-appropriating remaining funds to other golf course assets.
The city council meeting includes a public hearing for a Community Development Block Grant for assisting with a street project. Meetings of the Seminole Municipal Authority, Gas Authority and Airport Authority will begin at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the council meeting. All meetings are open to the public.
