Felony Charges Filed in Double Vehicle Theft
A felony charge of Larceny of a Vehicle has been filed against Wewoka resident James Erwin Perry, 30, in connection to an alleged theft. Seminole resident Adam Christopher Eversole, 30, has been charged with one felony count of Larceny of Automobile, Aircraft, or other Motor Vehicle in the same incident.
According to separate affidavits that were filed in the case, Seminole County Deputy Kendra Good win investigated a report received on June 27 of two stolen vehicles, a vehicle that had been wrecked in the driveway, and a vehicle that had been damaged at a rural residence near Maud.
The victim stated that his recently purchased 2011 Toyota Tundra had been backed into a tree and abandoned, a white 2004 Honda CRV and a white Chevrolet Suburban were missing, and a friend’s vehicle that had been parked in the driveway was damaged.
After taking the report, Goodwin was returning to her normal patrol duties when she observed a blue Chevy S10 pickup with a flat tire that appeared abandoned. During a routine check the vehicle came back clear, but the tag was expired, and insurance was unconfirmed.
A few hours later Goodwin was informed that a member of the victim’s family had located the Honda CVR at a motel in Seminole. When she arrived at the motel, she was informed by Seminole Police officers that the night shift had recovered a stolen motorcycle earlier that morning in front of the same room where the Honda CRV was parked. The officers had been informed that Perry, aka “J-NOC,” had been observed getting out of the Honda approximately 30 minutes prior to their arrival. During a search of the vehicle, Goodwin located the owner’s insurance card and an unfired shotgun round with the number 7.5 on the side.
The officers received a tip that Perry was at a residence in Seminole. They were also advised that Perry had an outstanding warrant with the Hughes County Sheriff’s office. When Goodwin entered the residence, Perry was located sitting passed out in a chair, according to the affidavit. He was unresponsive during his arrest and was placed in handcuffs without incident. During a pat search officers allegedly found a partially smoked marijuana cigarette and an unfired shotgun shell identical to the one found in the Honda CVR.
During the arrest, a Seminole PD officer stated that a Chevy S10 pickup had been observed leaving the motel where the Honda CVR had been recovered. The description matched the vehicle Goodwin had observed with a flat tire near where the other vehicles were allegedly stolen. The S10 was a suspect vehicle in a separate case SPD was working on, so Goodwin advised she would have the vehicle towed.
Perry was transported to the Seminole Emergency Room, where he was checked out by the medical staff before being transported to the Seminole County jail. While being booked, Goodwin observed Perry’s shoes matched footprints that were found where the vehicles had been reported stolen.
During the investigation Adam Christopher Eversole’s name had come up as a possible suspect. On June 28 Eversole was a passenger in a traffic stop, and the detective advised him the Sheriff’s office would be wanting to speak with him about some stolen property. Eversole allegedly stated he “just drove the Suburban.” Eversole was arrested on an active warrant out Seminole, and he was transported to the Seminole Police Department.
When Goodwin interviewed Eversole, he stated he was with Perry on their way to Ada when the S10 pickup had a blowout. They walked to the closest house, which was later confirmed to be the victim’s. Eversole allegedly stated that Perry left in the Honda, and he followed him to Ada in the Suburban.
Returning to Seminole, the pair stopped at a friend’s house in Sasakwa. Eversole stated he then drove to Rivermist Casino to get gas and Perry went to another friend’s house, and they were separated.
According to the affidavit, Eversole stated he went to his mom’s house in Seminole before taking a friend to Ada. After returning he parked the vehicle at the bank and “some dude named ‘Big Boy’ picked up the Suburban.”
Eversole stated that the keys were in the vehicles when they took them. The Tundra was the first vehicle Perry jumped into, and Perry had backed the Honda into the vehicle that was damaged.
Perry has also been charged with felony distribution of controlled dangerous substance from a separate incident in September 2020.
