Felony Charge of Assault And Battery on Officer Filed
A Seminole resident has been charged with one felony count of Battery/Assault and Battery on Detention Officer. According to the felony information filed in this case Josea Anibal Ramos Jr., 46, “on or about the 13th day of February, by willfully and unlawfully hitting (Detention Officer) in the face with his fist and hitting him about his head and body with the intent to injure (Detention Officer), knowing (Detention Officer) was a Seminole County Detention Officer who was performing the duties of a Seminole County Detention Officer.
The probable cause affidavit filed in this case states that on February 13, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Ramos was brought to the Seminole County Detention Center by order of Judge Butner. Ramos was uncooperative with the detention officer.
After being told he was going to be placed in Cell 47, Ramos stated that his slides (jail shoes) were damaged. The detention officer told Ramos he wasn’t doing that right now. Ramos stated that he wasn’t going in until he got new slides. The detention officer told Ramos to go to the cell several more times, but Ramos refused.
The detention officer stated he would make him go, which Ramos questioned. When the detention officer took a step forward, Ramos struck him in the face, busting his lip, the affidavit states. Startled, the officer stepped back, but Ramos stepped forward, allegedly punching the officer in the face and head. The officer continued stepping back trying to get his bearings and radio for assistance, the affidavit states, adding that Ramos punched the officer in the nose, causing it to bleed.
After assistance arrived, Ramos went to Cell 47 without further incident, the affidavit concludes.
Bond was set at $10,000, according to an order of commitment filed in this case. An additional condition of bond/ release document states Ramos is to immediately report to Oklahoma Court Services upon release from custody.
