ESA Resumes Meetings After a 2-Month Hiatus
The Zeta Epsilon Chapter of ESA held its first business meeting of the year on April 6 following several months of careful consideration of the Covid pandemic and its possible impact on members. This meeting was a welcome gathering of women who are committed to the community and its wellbeing. Members visited and caught up during a meal of pizza, salad and desserts provided by hostess Nelda Robertson and co-hostesses Ivana Watson and Ann Streets.
After the meeting was called to order a brief devotional was presented by Susan Gates. Susan played a video chat by Dr. Bertice Berry on nurturing and maintaining our relationships. She stressed the importance of not taking any person for granted. She gave examples of how one can maintain relationships with everyone around her but she also stressed that one should not allow oneself to become a “slave” to others’ demands. She closed by simply saying that this requires work on one’s part.
The business portion of the meeting dealt with ESA’s continuing commitment to the community by way of scholarships and various charitable projects.
Members in attendance were Charity Boyer, Susan Gates, Debbie Lyon, Nelda Robertson, Ann Streets, Barbara Tatum, Ivana Watson, Gloria Wheeler, Shirlene Davidson, and Barbara Tatum. We are hopeful that we can at this point safely return to our former meeting and fundraising schedule as well as the social activities which keep us all looking forward to the next chapter meeting!
After the meeting was adjourned, members joined hands to recite the closing ritual.
The ESA May meeting celebrating Founder’s Day will be hosted by Gloria Wheeler, location to be announced.
ESA, a philanthropic organization founded in 1930, includes in its mission statement, “…the promotion of continuing education and altruistic activities that make a positive difference in the community.”
