Early voting will open Thursday at the Seminole County Courthouse in two area school bond elections.

Maud Public Schools is seeking passage of a $715,000 bond proposal for adding a safe room addition to the gymnasium. The project includes new boys and girls locker rooms, a weight room, a classroom and a new air conditioning system for the gym. School officials say taxes will not increase if the bond is approved.

Under Oklahoma law, a “supermajority” is required for school bond issues to pass, meaning that a minimum of 60 percent of the votes cast must be in favor of the proposal.

Early voting will be available at the County Election Board office, located inside the courthouse, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26. Polls for in-person voting will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2.

Oklahoma law requires every voter who votes in person at the precinct polling place or during early voting at the County Election Board to show proof of identity before receiving a ballot.
