Doucette Seeking School Board Seat
Former Seminole Public School Transportation Director Jolene Doucette announces her bid for Seminole Public School Board seat 1.
Mrs. Doucette has worked several positions with Seminole Public School, starting as a custodian and finishing as custodial supervisor, grounds maintenance supervisor, transportation site supervisor and transportation director. She has a vast knowledge of the schools, workings both in and around the campus.
Mrs. Doucette over the years has developed a great rapport with the students and staff of Seminole Public School, believing that a last name should not be what matters but instead their hard work and dedication. Mrs. Doucette is currently attending the reserve officer academy for Seminole Police Department as well as registering for the fall semester in criminal justice at Seminole State College.
Jolene was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana where she was a fire fighter for 16 years. In those years she has served her community well, putting herself in harm’s way to save the life/property of others.
While at the fire department, Jolene was a part of the fire prevention program, touring throughout the state teaching children the importance of safety. Mrs. Doucette received several awards for her efforts in the Scott firefighter competition that took place in both national and worlds divisions.
Jolene served as secretary on the firefighter civil service board for 3 years, a CPR/AED instructor, attended LSU fire academy also Texas A&M fire training. However, her greatest accomplishment has been being an only parent to her beautiful daughter Olivia. Mrs. Doucette knows hard work and dedication to the extremes of working as a full-time firefighter and working 2 additional jobs.
Experience for Jolene comes from being on the frontlines and pushing through difficult times where quitting or giving up is not an option, where asking the difficult questions and making the challenging choices comes with the price of losing acquaintances but gaining the respect of others from making the right decisions, the decisions that are overlooked because it isn’t the popular choice. Mrs. Doucette attends in person or virtually most board meetings for Seminole Public School and understands the difficulty faced and the hard work put in by all board members.
If elected, Jolene Doucette vows to keep education for our children top priority as well as protecting the employees so that we don’t lose any more teachers or support staff to other schools.
“I acknowledge there is something terribly wrong with our system right now and although I do not have the exact answers, I do have the questions that are not being asked. I will make those answer the tough questions and provide evidence that our school is doing everything plus for our staff and children,” Doucette said.
