District Court Issues Measures to Combat Virus Spread
Seminole and Hughes Counties District Judge Timothy Olsen has issued the following statement in regard to in-person court appearances:
“Citizens of Seminole County:
Due to the President and Oklahoma Governor declaring a National and State emergency, and to do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the District Court in Seminole and Hughes Counties implemented temporary measures for in-person court appearances, effective immediately. The order is intended to limit the number of people in close proximity at any one time. It is an attempt to limit contact, but at the same time guaranty litigants their right to access the courts and ensure criminal defendants their right to a fair and speedy trial.
Please be aware that if you are currently on jury duty you are excused for now until April 13, 2020. You should call the juror message phone on April 12, 2020.
We are monitoring information from the State Health Department daily and will extend the order if deemed necessary.
It will take the efforts of us all in order to return to normal as soon as possible.
Thank you for your consideration and support.”
