Daniel McClure has been named as Assistant District Attorney for District #22 and will primarily focus on Seminole County, according to Paul B. Smith, District #22 District Attorney for Pontotoc, Seminole and Hughes Counties.

“Recently, I appointed and designated Daniel McClure as an Assistant District Attorney for the District with primary duty assignment in Seminole County,” said Smith.

McClure has served as Deputy General Counsel and Director of Research at the Oklahoma Municipal League since 2015, was a member of the Midwest City prosecutor’s office in 2018 and served as a City Councilman and Chairman of the Community Strategic Planning Taskforce in Midwest City during 2019 and 2020. He was previously appointed as Vice-Mayor for the City of Midwest City, where he served as the Chairman on the Taskforce on Crime and Punishment and Rehabilitation.

Prior to this, McClure was the Senior Director of Strategies and Community Impact with the United Way in 2014 and 2015. He was the Manager for the Oklahoma Journal Record Legislative Report from 2012 through 2014 and served as an adjunct professor of American Government at Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) and was the Coordinator of Academic Programs for the University of Central Oklahoma from 2009 through 2012.

He has earned several distinguished awards and recognition while completing his extensive education, including a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University (OCU) School of Law, graduating Cum Laude. While he attended OCU he was named a Hatton W. Sumner Scholar, represented OCU at the National Native American Law Students Association (NNALSA) National Mock Trial Competition, won the Durrell Public Law Research Award for Tribal & Municipal Government Collaboration, worked with the Norick Municipal Law Research Clinic and was named to the Dean’s List and the Faculty Honor Roll.

McClure received his Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma, where his concentration was on public policy.

He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) with bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science. He earned the Lynn Means Leadership Award and was named to the President’s Leadership Council at UCO.

McClure and his wife Stormy have two children. Stormy is a nurse and seamstress working from home right now. Daniel also serves as a bi-vocational youth minister.

“He is unquestionably well qualified for the position and offers me and all of us in the District thoughtful insight, problem solving abilities, courtroom and people skills in a variety of cases and situations,” said Smith. “Please join me in welcoming Daniel McClure on his success and on his new position in our district as an Assistant District Attorney. We are excited that Daniel will be filling out our compliment of experienced and skilled attorneys in the office of District Attorney.”
