COVID Death Toll Rises For Seminole County; Stands at 29

Posted in:

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) on Tuesday reported an additional coronavirus-related death for Seminole County, bringing the county’s death toll to 29.

The deceased was identified by the OSDH as a female in the 65 or older age group. Oklahoma’s death toll stood at 3,602 as of Tuesday with an additional 38 deaths reported.

According to the OSDH, there were 244 active cases of COVID-19 in Seminole County as of Tuesday and the statewide total of active cases was 27,860.

A vaccine is available to help guard against the potentially deadly virus, and appointments must be scheduled through the OSDH vaccination portal (vaccinate.oklahoma. gov). Those without internet access should call 2-1-1 for assistance with scheduling an appointment.

Upon reaching the portal, appointment seekers will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire. Persons who are eligible in the current vaccine phase will be able to schedule a vaccine, pending supply and appointment availability. Those not eligible will receive an email when their phase is ready for vaccinations.

Current priority groups that are eligible for vaccine appointments as part of Phase 2 of the vaccine distribution are healthcare workers (including expanded healthcare worker groups such as allied health fields and general outpatient health service), first responders and Oklahomans age 65 and older.

As of Friday, 634,377 Oklahomans had registered through the portal to receive notifications on eligibility and 129,746 appointments had been scheduled. Health officials say appointments will continue to be added throughout this week, and they recommend that people continue to check the system regularly for updates.
