County Commissioners Vote to Sell Two Properties

Posted in:

The Seminole Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 6, with Board members Tim Porter, Clifton Taylor, and Russell Yott present.

The commissioners voted to approve lot eleven, block three, Wolf City, and lot five, block one, Holloway Addition, all in Seminole County, being entered in County inventory for the possibility of sale. Seminole County Clerk Valarie Hogue explained that a citizen was interested in purchasing this property. However, in 1996 a resale deed to Seminole County and a credit association was filed, and the credit association quit claimed it back to Seminole County in 2002. The property was never entered back on the County Clerk’s inventory of resale property, so she was wanting to make certain the County was not using the property before taking bids on it. The BOCC voted to sell the property.

The BOCC also approved the annual contract between Seminole County Health Department and Seminole Clinic and the annual contract between the BOCC and the OSU Extension Office.

After reviewing the items and a brief discussion for clarification, the BOCC approved the monthly appropriations. The board also voted to approve certificates of compliance for OMMA businesses.

A resolution renewal contract for the Seminole County Health Department on AT&T Busbot 700 Min III, AT&T long distance service, Pitney Bowes Corporation Mailing System and Standley was approved by the commissioners. Approval was also given for a reimbursement to general fund for the Court Clerk’s Office.

A declaration of surplus on Dell Monitors for the Treasurer’s Office was approved, followed by a resolution disposing of five Dell Monitors for the Treasurer’s Office. A Treasurer’s Office resale financial statement was then approved.

Next on the agenda was a discussion and possible action to approve an ODOT Form 324A and lease agreement between the Seminole County BOCC and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for a 2021 Peterbilt truck. The lease agreement was approved.

The BOCC reviewed and approved a disaster recovery plan, fire escape plan, and severe weather plan for the Court Clerk’s Office.

In other business, an annual collection report of Sheriff service fees and Sheriff incarceration fees collected by the Seminole County Court Clerk’s Office was approved.

Also during the meeting, the BOCC discussed a Seminole County Detention Center Operation Agreement, but no action was taken.

A discussion on any business pertaining to the Seminole County Law Enforcement Center, Public Building Authority or Courthouse security included a report on a hive of bees that had recently been removed from a tree on the Courthouse lawn.

A discussion of business connected to E911 determined the emergency office is currently under-staffed. A meeting with Emergency Manager Von Wilcots was scheduled for later in the day.

The commissioners typically meet each Monday at 9 a.m. at the Seminole County Courthouse. All BOCC meetings are open to the public
